The winds around the low-pressure system are light, and the accompanying showers and thunderstorms are still disorganized, NHC said.
3-year-old dies in Winter Haven after being struck by lifted pickup: PCSO
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — A 3-year-old girl died after being hit by a pickup truck in a Winter Haven neighborhood on Friday night, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said. PCSO, along with Winter Haven police officers and fire personnel, responded to a home in the Savanna Pointe neighborhood after receiving multiple 911 calls at around 11 p.m. on July 17. The young girl was declared dead shortly after first responders arrived at the scene, PCSO said.

(WFLA) — A Spring Hill man is facing kidnapping and battery charges after attacking his ex-girlfriend as she arrived at work earlier this month, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said. Jose Alberto Vazquez Carrasco, 32, is accused of forcing the victim into his vehicle at knife-point and stabbing her in the abdomen. The victim told police that she had ended their relationship earlier that day and was staying with friends.
