After a calm and sunny start to the weekend, we have winds increasing a little today. With winds remaining out of the southwest for much of the Northland at 10 to 15 miles per hour today, temperatures look to rise into the upper 80s for another warm and dry afternoon. Due to low relative humidity across the area, we are keeping an eye on fire risks through the evening tonight, but the higher concern will be as winds continue to increase for the start of the week.

Black walnut trees can be large attractive trees in the landscape and are also popular with wildlife as a food source. One issue with these trees, however, is they can be toxic to certain plants growing in the vicinity. Black walnuts, (Juglans nigra), produce the chemical juglone, which inhibits many types of plants growing near them. Juglone occurs in all parts of the plant, but is most concentrated in the buds, nut hulls, and roots.

T. Denny Sanford, who built a fortune in banking and a legacy in philanthropy across the upper Midwest, has died. Sanford Health, the hospital system that bears his name, announced Saturday that the billionaire passed away at age 90. A bit warmer this weekend
Saturday will see mostly sunny skies with temperatures a little above 80 degrees in the afternoon. North winds will be moderate at 10-15 mph. Although there will be a few more clouds Sunday, temperatures rise thanks to a light southwest wind. Rain will be possible in the evening with some thundershowers overnight. A chance of thundershowers Monday morning will give way to partly cloudy skies the rest of the day. Monday afternoon will bring more 80s before cooler temperatures settle in.
