Dissecting animal cadavers is hardly how many people, let alone kids, spend their free time. But that's just what the doctor ordered for one local teenager. Cameron Ricketts, a 15-year-old Corry resident, is getting a leg up on his future career as a surgeon by dissecting various animal body parts and practicing medical procedures on cadavers that his family has ordered from professional suppliers. "I have worked on quite a few fetal pigs," Cameron said.

Hearing for Corry mom charged with homicide rescheduled

A preliminary hearing for a Corry woman charged with homicide in connection to her 2-year-old son's death in early 2021 has been pushed back. According to online court dockets, the hearing for 22-year-old Kayle Mealy has been continued until 10 a.m. on April 8 at District Judge Denise Buell's office. The preliminary hearing was originally scheduled for today.

Open house set for Corry homeless facility

There have been numerous people over the years who aspired to create a safe place in Corry for those with nowhere to stay. That dream may finally being coming to fruition. An open house has been scheduled for Saturday, March 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the site of a prospective homeless shelter, which is now being referred to by organizers as a rehabilitation center. The facility is located inside the former Abundant Grace Church at 104/106 W. Smith St., Corry.
