You might be surprised to know that years ago, Tom Cruise once visited Maine and even made his way to an iconic seafood spot. The star of "Mission: Impossible" and the upcoming movie "Digger" joins a long list of celebrities who have come to the state. During his previous trip, he found his way to Red's Eats in Wiscasset.

Football season is back, and so is Cowbell Restaurants Pro Picks with Jimmy the Greek and Kakes. These two will be sharing their football team picks each week and seeing who can get more of them right for the season. Some friendly trash talk and football? Count us in. Fall TV premieres were a big deal for kids in the '80s. I read the "Cheers and Jeers" column in TV Guide every week, and I pored over the Fall Preview issue like I was studying the racing form before the Kentucky Derby. Rarely did you get four long-running shows premiering in a single week (OK, one is more iconic than long-running). But that's exactly what happened in September 1986. Rain, rain, go away, so we can enjoy the foliage, okay? The season is cruising by, with reports now dropping weekly. According to Maine.gov, the peak season for Northern Maine is happening as I write this. That’s followed by mid-October for Central and Western Maine, and then closer to the end of October for Southern Maine. We’re at peak in Northern Maine, folks. It's always exciting when the "peak" season start to kick off. It's wonderful to see the leaves starting to change quite a bit.

Tony Iommi has released the second preview of his forthcoming new album, From the Dark. Check out "Stormwatcher" and the single's cover art below. The new track features Jorn Lande on vocals, with bassist Becky Baldwin (Mercyful Fate), keyboardist Mike Exeter and drummer Karl Brazil (Robbie Williams, James Blunt). Iommi, Exeter and Lande co-wrote "Stormwatcher," with Lande providing all lyrics and vocal melodies. Exeter also co-produced with Iommi.

If you have ever gone through the process of applying for a job, there is a good chance that you have had to deal with a certain amount of vagueness when it comes to the compensation for the position. Of course, this is likely not the case for every job that you have applied for, but there is a good chance that at least a few of the positions you applied for did not list any specifics about the amount of money being offered.

Mayor Carl Sheline has declared the entire month of October “Halloween Town” in Lewiston, so consider this your official permission slip to lean all the way into spooky season. Sheline announced the proclamation this week, encouraging the community to embrace the Halloween spirit throughout the month. And honestly, if you’ve been waiting for an excuse to put out the skeletons, decorate the front porch, stock up on candy or wear a costume when it’s probably a little too early… here you go.

One of my favorite things to do in this great state is hitting the road and exploring new restaurants. My wife and I love taking trips based on recommendations we’ve found in reviews, articles, social media, the station's website, or just good old-fashioned word of mouth. It’s a fun little adventure that gets us out exploring the state, and, most importantly, always keeps the ol’ palate satisfied.

Rush fans never could have expected what has transpired here in 2026, when it comes to the return of the Canadian progressive rock legends to the live concert stage for their Fifty Something reunion tour. While the feelings of excitement with an outing like this can fade after a certain number of shows, that hasn't happened here. In fact, as their recent concerts in Cleveland demonstrated, they continue to add little twists and turns to the storyline.

It doesn't feel like that long ago when many restaurants across Maine served food late. Some of those restaurants never actually closed at all. For those that work in certain professions and industries, restaurants that operated 24 hours each day were a true life saver. But 24-hour restaurants have all but disappeared across Maine over the last decade. According to the Portland Press Herald, several factors have contributed to that.
