In 1970, Joni Mitchell sang about Woodstock, even though she didn't perform at or attend the festival: "I'm going on down to Yasgur's Farm / I'm gonna join in a rock and roll band / I'm gonna camp out on the land / I'm gonna try and get my soul free." Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, who did perform at the festival, made Mitchell's song famous with their cover version.

Rush drummer Anika Nilles recalled how a message of support from Neil Peart’s widow calmed her nerves in the run-up to her debut as his replacement. The German musician underwent a five-day audition before Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson decided she was the right person to join them on drums for their Fifty Something tour.

Earth, Wind & Fire have provided an update on John Paris, the band’s drummer who suffered a “critical medical emergency” on Aug. 6. The famed funk group was set to take the stage at the Chase Center in San Francisco when the emergency occurred. Paris was rushed to a hospital at the time for what TMZ described as a “cardiac incident,” while the night’s performance was canceled. In a new update posted to Facebook, Paris’ bandmates and family shared details regarding his condition.

Cooper Flagg, the Newport, Maine, native and No. 1 NBA draft pick in 2025, was spotted in the state recently, and he was kind enough to stop for a picture with fans. The 19-year-old star forward for the Dallas Mavericks had multiple Maine events he was attending (and hosting) in August, so it's no surprise the guy would be out and about grabbing something to eat, too. For all his awards and accomplishments, it's great to see that Flagg still makes time for the people back home.

For over a year, there have been rumblings about the Amtrak transportation center in Portland, Maine, moving from its current location at Thompson's Point. The reasoning was sound. In order for trains to load and unload at the Portland station, railcars needed to exit the mainline. That process has led to delays for trains and frustration for passengers.

Foghat has announced the upcoming release of Live & Loud Across the U.S.A., which will arrive Oct. 30. You can hear "My Babe," the first single, below. The blues-based rock legends, still led by stalwart founding drummer Roger Earl, recorded Live & Loud Across the U.S.A. during their touring runs in 2024 and 2025. It was an expansive set of dates that also took them to additional territories like Canada, Mexico and Europe.
