Chili’s planning retro renovations across 1,200 locations
(CNN) - Chili’s is launching a renovation that’s a retro step back into time. The casual dining chain is bringing back things like red leather booths and colorful tile tables. The restaurant’s president says the goal of the new look is to make “Chili’s more Chili’s.” The remodels will start in Chili’s hometown of Dallas in 2027. The chain plans to renovate 10% of its about 1,200 locations each year until they’re all done.
Tippecanoe County 4-H Fair Opening Day Kicks Off
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - July 17th is opening day at the Tippecanoe County Fair! Families are unloading trailers, and fair organizers are sure everything is ready for a busy week ahead. Over 1,400 people are participating in this year’s 4-H. Day one was home to the rabbit and cat shows, the dog rally, and open dining. Mini 4-H participants were ready to wave and smile for the camera as they got settled in.
Husband, wife of 35 years killed when tree falls on car during storms
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray News) - A married couple in Florida was killed nearly a week ago when a tree fell on their car during a storm. The Tallahassee Police Department identified the victims as Patti Haller, 63, and Steve Haller, 65. Police said a large tree fell directly on the front seat area of their vehicle.

(WLFI) - Purdue University is ranked second nationally in SmartAsset’s 2020–26 study of America’s best value public universities—rising above the rest of the Big Ten and Hoosier State. The study ranks based on cost of attendance, median alumni earnings, and graduation rate. Purdue achieved this ranking with an annual cost of attendance of twenty-four thousand five hundred dollars and alumni earnings of seventy-one thousand five hundred dollars.
Woman accused of marrying nearly 14 men just to receive money from them, then disappearing, authorities say
LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News) - A woman from China is accused of marrying 14 men to receive money from them in Las Vegas, according to authorities. Police say Jiaying Chen was taken into custody at a southwest valley restaurant on Thursday, June 4, after investigators learned she was allegedly planning to meet a man there to discuss possibly getting married. A woman was arrested Monday on charges of bigamy, theft and forgery after allegedly marrying multiple men and obtaining money from them.
Man stumbles upon 2,700-year-old sword in the forest
(CNN) - A hobbyist with a metal detector stumbled on a big find in a forest in northern Poland. He discovered a well-preserved bronze sword from the late Bronze Age. It had apparently been standing upright in the ground for nearly 2,700 years. Experts said it dated to between 900 and 700 B.C. The man reported the discovery to heritage officials, and archeologists removed it from the sandy soil. It will be studied further before going to a museum. Similar discoveries have been made in the area.

Single Vehicle Crash in Northern Tippecanoe County Sends One Person to Hospital
TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Tippecanoe County deputies are investigating a serious single-vehicle crash in northern Tippecanoe County. The sheriff’s office says it happened Thursday just before 2 p.m. at Jackson Highway and County Road 350 North. Investigators say a car heading west failed to make a right-hand curve, went off the left side of the road, and hit several trees.
40th Anniversary of Art Smart Indiana
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - This year marks the 40th anniversary of Art Smart Indiana, an initiative created by the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette as a teaching tool to explore the significance of Indiana art history. To commemorate the anniversary, the museum has a display running until November 8th featuring multiple pieces and artists from Art-Smart’s collection. It includes famous Hoosier artists such as Robert Indiana and Otto Start.
