Since its founding in 1957, Central Indiana residents have relied on WTHR Channel 13, the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis, as the leader in local coverage. On August 8, 2019 WTHR was purchased by TEGNA, Inc.
WTHR's broadcast facility, located at 1000 North Meridian Street, officially opened in May of 1982. It was one of the first buildings to become part of Mayor William H. Hudnut's revitalized North Meridian Street corridor. The station houses two broadcast studios that feature the latest in automated studio technologies, including state of the art augmented reality and virtual sets. These investments afford WTHR the ability to tell stories and showcase local productions in a way few stations in the country can.

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office charged Jacob Daniels with theft with a value of property greater than $50,000. On July 6, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a report of theft of multiple air‑conditioning units at a Shoppers World in the 3700 block of South East Street, near East Sumner Avenue on the city's south side.

WASHINGTON — This week, the U.S. House is expected to vote on a bill to make daylight saving time permanent, which, if enacted into law, would end the annual back-and-forth Americans go through in the fall and spring. House officials haven't said exactly when they expect to vote on the bill. In May, the House Energy and Commerce Committee backed the "Sunshine Protection Act," an initiative from a Florida lawmaker that would eliminate the biannual change in favor of daylight saving time year-round.
