For nearly two minutes, one of the pilots of the Amazon cargo plane that careened off a Miami runway and killed five people repeatedly warned his counterpart they were going too fast as they approached for landing and after touchdown, according to flight information released Wednesday. A summary of cockpit voice recordings compiled by the National Transportation Safety Board said the fellow pilot never gave "a consistent verbal response" to the warnings.

Gov. Mike DeWine defended Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton further Wednesday, following the security incident near Youngstown at the Canfield Fair over the weekend. 38-year-old Patrick Havas, of Canfield, faces two related assault charges as well as charges of disorderly conduct and inducing panic. Havas, arrested Sunday with a taser and two pistols on him, was released on bond Tuesday after he pleaded not guilty.

"If the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000," he said. "It will be called the Trump dividend, congratulations." The money would have to be spent in the U.S., the president said.

Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman made a surprise appearance via video at the Republican midterm convention Wednesday evening. In the 64-second video, Fetterman introduced Pennsylvania's Republican senator, Dave McCormick, with whom Fetterman has grown quite close.
