Despite efforts by U.S. negotiators, Iran says it wants to charge a toll for ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. It’s yet another unresolved issue of the U.S.-Iran war. A fifth of the world’s oil used to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Today, it’s a fraction of that. Iran’s control of the waterway remains a potent weapon in this conflict. The temporary agreement signed three weeks ago says Iran will ensure safe passage of commercial vessels with no charge for 60 days.
