Samantha Max was an investigative reporting intern for the Medill Justice Project and a bilingual multimedia news intern at Hoy, Chicago Tribune’s Spanish-language daily. An NYPD inspector pleaded not guilty to attempted rape of a subordinate and other charges Friday. Jeremy Scheublin was the commanding officer of the 46th precinct in the Bronx at the time. The arraignment comes a day after a female sergeant and two female officers in the same precinct sued Scheublin’s replacement, Juan O. Moran, for alleged sexual harassment and retaliation. The 46th precinct encompasses the Fordham, Morris Heights and Mount Hope sections of the Bronx.

The owner of a Long Island City hotel accused of bribing a high-ranking member of previous Mayor Eric Adams’ administration in exchange for a city contract can go to the World Cup finals in New Jersey later this month, a federal judge in Brooklyn said Wednesday. Yan Po Zhu appeared in court along with co-defendants Frank Carone, Anthony Carone and Crystal Chen a week after they pleaded not guilty to bribery, money laundering and other federal crimes.
