A new cohort of fintech firms is determined to disrupt and eradicate financial fraud, in all its permutations. That was the message at Finovate 2025 in New York, an annual conference where innovators in a range of fintech sectors came to display and demo their offerings and meet with potential clients and investors over a three-day period.

The use of Generative AI tools is on the rise, and with it has come the emergence of professional certification programs that specialize in Gen AI knowledge and training. Fintech firms—particularly those that tout their Gen AI expertise—are being asked to consider whether such programs are helpful to their employees and technology teams at this early stage of Gen AI’s evolution. They may also want to assess the degree to which their financial firm customers may care about such credentials.

If a fintech firm with text data at their disposal is not using it to employ natural language processing models – a branch of artificial intelligence that teaches machines to understand, analyze, and generate human language – they are missing out. Natural language processing models or NLP can and should be employed regularly to assess a firm’s internal and external text material to understand the sentiments of the customers as well as those of employees.
