Flare: the campus safety app you need
When it comes to student safety, universities are often funding ill-equipped resources in order to check off a mandatory box. This is one reason that Flare was founded. Book Review: the best a man can get, by John O’Farrell
I stumbled upon the best a man can get in a charity shop. I’m not entirely sure what urged me to pick it up as it wasn’t particularly eye catching and whilst they say not to judge a book by its cover, I almost always do. Yet something pulled me towards it and as I had a read of the blurb, I was instantly sucked in. Here’s what it said: Michael Adams shares a flat with three other men in their late twenties. Days are spent lying in bed, playing computer games and occasionally doing a bit of work.

Review: bdrmm @ Thekla
bdrmm's 2023 project i don't know oversees an aggressive sonic exploration: a marriage of poppy tendencies within a boisterous soundscape that has since exceeded its eponymous bedroom pop typicality, blasting the metaphorical bedroom apart from the floor to the ceiling, as the group continue to sell out gigs with their effectual and dynamic noisiness When I was 17, my history teacher told me that I was "a shoegazer," on account of my outfit for a mufti day: long sleeve top, baggy jeans and a...
Best of the Southwest Acapella Showcase
By Megan Ioannides, Opinion Sub-Editor Stepping into the Anson Rooms for the Best of the Southwest (BOSW) Acapella Showcase, I didn’t know what to expect. Any knowledge I had about acapella beforehand came from, what I had imagined to be a particularly inaccurate Pitch Perfect franchise. However, after Saturday night, I can see that at least the extravagance of the films is reflected in real life.
Can Googling your symptoms be beneficial?
We’ve all been there. A strange mark on your arm or a pain in your side, Google will know what it is. Or more realistically, google will tell you seventy different things it could be, ranging from indigestion to cancer and imminent death. That’s why we’re constantly told off by friends and family: ‘don’t google your symptoms’ or ‘don’t be crazy’. But can googling the symptoms sometimes be helpful instead of triggering us into a spiral of concern?
Disney Channel turns 40: A look back at my favourite memories
The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus. This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bristol chapter. Despite taking the truly British rite of passage from CBeebies to CBBC growing up, I found my way onto the all-American Disney Channel as I headed into my teens.
Conquering Procrastination: How To Get Things Done
Megan Ioannides Do you find yourself leaving things to the last minute? Are you always putting off tasks you know are important? Don’t worry! You’re not the only one. There are many reasons we procrastinate — and it’s not solely due to laziness. Procrastination is a habit. Like all habits, it can be difficult to break once we’re set in our ways. Why do we procrastinate? Procrastination is actually a biological response. It’s caused by a fight between our and the prefrontal cortex.
Opinion | The cost-of-living crisis has drastically altered the student experience
By Megan Ioannides, Opinion Sub-Editor Every year when a new academic term begins and students rush back to their university cities, we prepare to return to cheap living and a busy social calendar. However, since the cost-of-living crisis was announced in 2022, the student experience has dramatically changed. The crisis, of course has not just had an effect on students. People across the UK are seeing their wages stagnate whilst prices continue to rise in all aspects of life.

The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus. IT’S OKAY TO NOT HAVE A PLAN: TIPS FOR COPING WITH UNCERTAINTY IN FINAL YEAR
The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus. Being in the final year of university with thoughts of an impending graduation can be scary. As students, we feel the need to suddenly have our lives planned out and know exactly where we’re heading next.

From April 2022, the Conservative government’s plan for tackling rising levels of obesity in the UK came into action, and with it a dangerous game of mental manipulation began.
