A Flash Flood Warning was issued early Friday for parts of Polk County and southern Story County, where rainfall estimates around 10″ were focused.

IOWA — Extreme heat will continue to impact mainly southern and southeast Iowa today. That’s where the hottest and most uncomfortable air will be, with heat indices reaching over 100 degrees. Storm chances are going up for Central Iowa in the next two days, and some storms may be severe. Wind and hail, plus heavy rainfall are the main concerns. Scattered storms will be most likely during the day in far northern Iowa. The storms will move southeast across north central and eastern Iowa later tonight.
