In this work, we introduce PyCCAPT, a Python-based, open-source package designed to address the limitations of proprietary atom probe tomography (APT) systems. PyCCAPT provides complete access to instrument control and data calibration, offering researchers flexibility and customization for APT experiments.

1 INTRODUCTION Based on time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometry (Blavette et al., 1993; Müller et al., 1968), atom probe tomography (APT) is capable of a single atom sensitive near-atomic resolution (Gault et al., 2009). Atoms or small molecules from needle-shaped samples are subsequently ionized through field evaporation from the surface at precise moments, and then they are detected on a two-dimensional time-resolved detector.
