Introduction Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders, affecting 5–10% of reproductive-aged women (1). The diagnosis of PCOS requires the presence of at least two of the following characteristic features: clinical and/or biochemical hyperandrogenism (HA), chronic anovulation (AO), and polycystic ovarian morphology (PCOM) on ultrasonography, according to the Rotterdam criteria (1).
