Liquides Imaginaires' L'Ile Pourpre is a really strange scent. I'm not sure if I mean that as a positive or pejorative. The way Nadege Le Garlantezec has articulated the central fantasy fig note, intentionally presented as otherworldly rather than naturalistic, creates a really odd textural sensation for a fragrance – slimy, gelatinous, and slightly gloopy, similar to years-old bottles of after-sun aloe gel that coagulate into a gunky, bumpy sludge on application.
