Abstract A direct and asymmetric aldol reaction of N-acyl thiazinanethiones with aromatic aldehydes catalyzed by chiral nickel(II) complexes is reported. The reaction gives the corresponding O-TIPS-protected anti-aldol adducts in high yields and with remarkable stereocontrol and atom economy.
