1 Introduction Neuroinflammation is a double-edged sword in the central nervous system (CNS), serving as a protective response to injury or infection while driving pathological progression in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD) and Multiple sclerosis (MS) (Kormas and Moutzouri 2022; Morén et al. 2022; Marambaud et al. 2009).
Incretin-based therapies and risk of pancreatic cancer in patients with type 2 diabetes: a meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials
Conflicting evidence exists regarding the potential risk of pancreatic cancer with use of incretin drugs in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). We performed a meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCTs), including six recently published large-scale cardiovascular outcome trials (CVOTs), to evaluate the risk of pancreatic cancer with incretin-based therapies in patients with T2DM.

This prospective, multicentre, phase 3 study (NCT02104804) evaluated the efficacy and safety of saxagliptin add-on therapy in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled by insulin?±?metformin. Patients with glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c)?7.5%–10.5% and fasting plasma glucose (FPG) <270?mg/dL on stable insulin therapy (20–150 U/day) were randomized (1:1) to saxagliptin 5?mg once daily (N?=?232) or placebo (N?=?230) for 24 weeks, stratified by metformin use.
