Not many entrepreneurs can turn a struggling bakery into a 21-year success story, but that’s exactly what Jacky Magid and Ken Mahlab have done with Charlie’s Fine Food Co, a wholesaler and retailer of gourmet baked goods. It all began when Ken bought the tiny Moorabbin-based wholesale bakery out of receivership in 2004. Four years later, Jacky left her corporate law career to join the business, securing major contracts with stadiums, airlines and hotels.
