Michael A. Milton’s Biography

Dr. Michael A. Milton is a distinguished theologian, author, educator, and retired U.S. Army chaplain. He retired from his role as the Distinguished Professor of Missions and Evangelism at Erskine Theological Seminary, where he also served as a doctoral advisor for the Free University of Amsterdam. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor at several institutions. With over thirty-five published books, Dr. Milton is recognized for his significant contributions to theological scholarship, pastoral ministry, and leadership in higher education.

As a Presbyterian (PCA) minister, Dr. Milton has dedicated his career to advancing Reformed theological education and furthering the Church’s mission. He serves as the President of Faith for Living, Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on Christian discipleship, education, and community service. He leads initiatives such as the D. James Kennedy Institute of Reformed Leadership, Bethesda Publishing Group, Bethesda Music, and Faith for Living Consulting through this platform.

A profound commitment to Christian missions and evangelism marks Dr. Milton's career. His academic credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of Wales, a Doctor of Ministry in Higher Education from Erskine Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Knox Theological Seminary, a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources from MidAmerica Nazarene University. He also holds a Certification in Higher Education Teaching from Harvard University.

Before his academic and pastoral ministry, Dr. Milton served as a Naval Intelligence top-secret interpreter (Albanian) and later as a Chaplain (Colonel) in the U.S. Army, dedicating thirty-two years to military service. His experiences in both intelligence and military chaplaincy have deeply influenced his understanding of global missions and leadership.

Dr. Milton's contributions to theological education and writing have established him as a prominent leader in Reformed theology, pastoral training, and forming a Christian worldview. He is often sought for speaking engagements, media commentary, and academic collaborations. His scholarship integrates theology, history, and practical ministry, making his insights invaluable to scholars and church leaders.

He resides in Tryon, North Carolina, with his wife, Mae, and their son, John Michael E. Milton, completing his Master of Business Administration at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Milton continues to mentor students, write extensively, and contribute to the advancement of Reformed theological education worldwide.
