EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation: Are you prepared?

Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on Packaging and Packaging Waste (the “PPWR”), which entered into force on 11 February 2025, will start to apply to companies on 12 August 2026. Companies that place packaging or packaged products on the EU market from this date must comply with the new regulatory obligations due to enter application under the PPWR. UK manufacturers supplying packaged products to the EU market are directly impacted by the PPWR and must navigate the new regime as they prepare for compliance.

The Roll‑Out of Digital Waste Tracking in the UK: What You Need to Know

From 1 October 2026, operators of sites that receive waste will be required to use a new digital waste tracking system (“DWTS”) to record waste movements in England, Northern Ireland and Wales (with requirements in Scotland expected to come into force in January 2027). Westminster and the devolved administrations are taking steps to legislate for these changes.
