Trash or treasure: Rhizome conservation during drought
Plant processing and data collection During harvests, rhizomes were severed along the plastic barrier in the back compartment. Each sample was collected separately for each compartment of each specimen (individual plant with younger and older rhizome) when available. Many plants were without above-ground biomass from the older rhizome part. We collected two biomass traits, the biomass of above-ground organs and the biomass of newly formed rhizome branches (new rhizomes).
