I began writing professionally in the late 1990s while working for an online mortgage company in San Francisco, where I wrote customer correspondence, mortgage marketing materials, and mortgage and technical training materials. Since 2008, I have worked as a full-time freelance photographer and writer, contributing to Yahoo Finance, Fox Business, Bankrate, The Guardian, and many other print and online publications. I cover a variety of topics, including travel, investing, insurance, health care, careers, history, and finance.
For several years, I served at the Colombia correspondent and Colombia editor for International Living magazine. My work appeared in two IL’s print publications, read by hundreds of thousands of subscribers, as well as visitors to the IL website. As a correspondent, it was my job to inform readers about all aspects of immigrating to and living in Colombia, including immigration policies and procedures, the home-buying process, health care, and starting a business. I also wrote Escape to Colombia, 1st Edition, a comprehensive guide to retiring to Colombia
