Background: Anorectal melanoma (ARM) is a rare disease with variable treatment options and an overall poor prognosis. Early stage cases benefit the most from surgical resection. Ano-uro-genital (AUG) Mucosal Melanoma UK guidelines, 2018, recommended a less radical surgical approach for ARM where possible. This is in contrary to the previously adopted approach of radically in the form of abdominoperineal resection (APR).
