Michael Hooper’s Biography

I am a journalist, poet, and painter. I have written for The Topeka Capital-Journal (10 years), The Kansas City Star, The Grand Island (Neb) Independent (nine years), The Motley Fool, Seeking Alpha, Thoughtful Investor and The Oakland Express. Specialize in business, investments and cryptocurrency. I covered President Ronald Reagan for USA Today in 1988 in Hastings, Neb., I have talked to three billionaires, Charles Koch, Warren Buffett (at annual meeting in 1997), and Phil Anschutz, who said, "you will make mistakes but you can make up for them." I interviewed Emily Dinsmoor Stevens, a true daughter of a Civil War veteran SP Dinsmoor, a folk artist pioneer in Kansas. I lived in Europe in 1990, worked at a hotel in Athens, Greece, and hung out with expats in Spain. Co-author of Shattered on the Plains with Arlen Lazaroff. I met poet Allen Ginsberg. Active in poetry circles in the Midwest, co-founder of the Prairie Poet Conspiracy.
