US President Donald Trump's recent declaration recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has sparked international concern that a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine is at risk. António Guterres, United Nations Secretary General, emphasized the severity of this situation when he warned: "in this moment of great anxiety, I want to make it clear: There is no alternative to the two-state solution.

Israel is weaponizing social media in order to wage a propaganda war against BDS. In New York City in June 2017, the Israeli minister of strategic affairs Gilad Erdan stood in front of a crowd celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the annexation of East Jerusalem.
