1 INTRODUCTION The world has embarked on an ambitious transition to a low-carbon global economy with the goal of keeping global surface temperatures from rising more than 1.5°C in this century (Chen et al., 2023; IPCC, 2018; Zhu et al., 2022). This rapid transition toward decarbonization is expected to drive tremendous growth in certain key industries, such as electric vehicles, grid-scale energy storage, low-carbon steel and cement, and more.
