At the October 2023 Council meeting, GCC said the removal of the three gates would be progressed before the end of 2023. Two gates at South Park in the Claddagh and one in Terryland Forest Park are earmarked for removal by GCC on a pilot basis, before potentially rolling the scheme out to other areas.
