The Limerick man lost 8-5 to England's Ross Smith in the decider. O'Connor moved up to 38 in the PDC order of merit after acquitting himself superbly at Arena MK, defeating a host of big names in pocketing the £10,000 runner-up prize.

That was the case in 2024, still licking their wounds from an extra-time Champions Cup final loss to Toulouse, Leinster bounced back with derby double over Connacht and Ulster to book a date with the Bulls in Pretoria. Tyrone's Mickey Mansell will team up with Ireland veteran Willie O'Connor, from Limerick, for the first time having previously represented Northern Ireland. O'Connor is ranked 38th in the PDC order of merit with Mansell 47th. Both reached the quarter-finals of Tuesday's Players Championship 19.
