1 Introduction Phoenix lallani (≡ Phoenix andamanensis S.Barrow, Kew Bull. 53: 538. 1998, nom. illeg., non Sander & C.F.Sander ex R.H.Pearson, Gard. Chron. ser. 3, 53: 294. 1913) was first collected by Rogers from Little Andaman in 1903 and later recorded from several other localities in South Andaman as cited under the “Specimens Examined” section. In 1905, Osmaston reported natural populations from Saddle Peak in North Andaman, the highest elevation point in the archipelago.
