I 2021 omsatte kun 176 virksomheder for mere end 3 mia. kr. Eksporten lå på hele 2,2 mia. kr., hvilket tilsyneladende har fanget politikernes opmærksomhed.
Playing Software, one email at a time
Writing books takes a long time. Publishing a finished book, even more time. I started working on Playing Software some time in 2015, when I was a guest at the Computational Media group at UC Santa Cruz. Back then, the present and near future was VR, AR, voice assistants, gamification, and digial-physical hybrids. Social media was a mess, but some interesting things were happening there as well. Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore in figures
This weekend, Lee Kuan Yew, ex-prime minister and founding father of Singapore, died at the age of 91. His legacy is somewhat controversial: while he headed up the city-state's transformation from a colonial port town into a rich and highly developed world city, he also presided over a draconian justice system, and was well known for suing (and often, subsequently bankrupting) his political opponents.
Our cities should be "machines of play"
Le Corbusier famously defined houses as machines for living in: carefully constructed systems that would efficiently help us live. Following that line of thought, he claimed that carefully planned cities, composites of machines for living, would actually lead to a better, more humane urban environment. In some ways, our modern western cities are somehow thought of, or dreamt of, as postmodern interpretations of Le Corbusier’s ideals.
The Ethics of Computer Games
Endorsement Small Arrow Miguel Sicart's The Ethics of Computer Games is a thoughtful and nuanced investigation of a topic of great importance. Sicart weaves together insights and influences from several fields, providing an erudite (and also approachable) introduction to the subject. This book will be valuable to educators who want to target ethics in their Game Studies curriculum, as well as to journalists, parents, and others who have ethical concerns about games.
