The Importance of Patient Positioning in Radiography When Utilising Automatic Exposure Control
1 Introduction Automatic exposure control (AEC) is a device used in radiographic practice which terminates a radiographic acquisition when a certain exposure threshold is reached [1, 2]. This technology aims to optimise image quality while reducing radiation dose to patients, irrespective of their body habitus or body region being examined [2-4]. Several ionisation chambers, typically 3 to 5, are situated inside the bucky and in front of the image receptor.
