Princess Goes was officially formed nearly a decade ago, but the band’s roots go deeper to earlier in the 2010s when Michael H. Hall, Matt Katz-Bohen, and Peter Yanowitz shared the stage as members of the fictional band Hedwig and the Angry Inch during a 2014 run of the popular play of the same name.

The Texan country-folk songwriter plays the track from his newly released debut album Sun of Amen at the LA studio in which it was recorded. Last week, Cali-via-Texas songwriter Alex Amenreleased his debut collection of songs via ATO Records. Sun of Amen introduced the artist’s work as a blend of sounds that embrace both his past and present surroundings, with the record’s track list balancing between Southern country music and folk-pop familiar to 1970s Los Angeles.
