1 Introduction Prehispanic terrace agriculture significantly transformed Andean landscapes and serves as a key indicator of ancient land use and human–environment interactions throughout the region (Aguirre-Morales 2009; Canziani 2021; de la Torre and Burga 1986; Denevan 2001; Kendall and Rodríguez 2009; Londoño et al. 2017). Ancient terrace farming systems also offer valuable insights into the indigenous socioeconomic strategies and resilience in response to environmental and climate change.
