Basically perfect weather for a fun event on Main Street in Bennington, celebrating the area’s finest vintage vehicles. Yet sure enough, the only rain we’ve had in days made an appearance during our July 16 Cruise-In, bringing a drizzly close to the show.

It’s been 20 years since the all-new 2007 Shelby GT500 first bared its fangs. The legendary muscle car arrived in ’06 as an ’07 model, 40 years after the original G.T. 500’s 1967 debut. It rolled in on the heels of the ’05 Ford GT, borrowing some of the supercar’s engine parts and riding a wave of factory nostalgia.

The Dodge Shelby Dakota has a lot going for it: low production, a Shelby pedigree, and some unique features. Watch Hemmings videos without ads here. But average sale prices for these hot-rodded V8 haulers have hovered in the $10,000-$15,000 range for some time. That’s just below the truck’s original $16,000 MSRP (the equivalent of $41,000 in today’s money). A few notable examples have soared higher.
