Mike Plotnick’s Biography

Mike Plotnick is a skilled writer, publicist and communications strategist.

As founder and principal of Plotlines LLC, he helps diverse organizations elevate their stories, leveraging his expertise in writing, public relations, marketing, branding and social engagement.

Mike also serves as a contributing editor and freelance writer for several trade publications within the architecture, engineering and construction industry. His articles have been published by Architect, Building Design + Construction (BD+C), Multifamily Design + Construction, Building Operating Management and ConstructUtopia.

Prior to forming Plotlines, Mike served as a leader in the Worldwide Communications group at Mastercard, where his role included positioning the company’s technology expertise in internal and external media.

Mike previously spent 10 years at HOK, where he directed internal and external communications strategies to position the global architecture firm's people, projects and expertise worldwide. As vice president and communications director, he also led the team that pioneered and facilitated HOK’s industry-leading social media platform.

In addition, Mike’s background includes successful tenures at two public relations firms and an advertising agency.

A frequent speaker on PR and social media topics, Mike’s work has been honored by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS).
