Have you ever used a typewriter?

In high school in the early 90s I used a typewriter a few times before we got a personal computer.

How is social media changing news?

Social media is making everything quicker and more about the lede than ever before.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Some editors call that I have known for many years and other times I get email queries. Either way works for me.

Why did you become a journalist?

Everywhere I went there great stories and they needed to be told.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Read as much as possible from a wide variety of fields. Write every day whether it’s for publication or just your own practice.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime. I love writing stories.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

In a classroom, On stage stage at a literary event, Reading a book or taking a bike ride with my kids.
