Since their early days more than 50 years ago, computational quantum chemistry methods have nowadays become a powerful and indispensable tool assisting scientists unraveling the mysteries of the microscopic world of atoms and molecules.

Abstract The collective tunneling of a Wigner necklace—a crystal-like state of a small number of strongly interacting electrons confined to a suspended nanotube and subject to a double-well potential—is theoretically analyzed and compared with experiments in Shapir et al. [Science 364, 870 (2019)].

We present a hybrid numerical approach to simulate quantum many-body problems on two spatial dimensional quantum lattice models via the non-Abelian ab initio version of the density matrix renormalization group method on state-of-the-art high-performance computing infrastructures.
