Modern agriculture heavily relies on synthetic herbicides to control weeds and enhance crop productivity. (1) However, due to the increasing emergence of herbicide-resistant biotypes, a continuous development of new active principles is needed. (2) Recent studies have suggested that synthetic chemistry approaches tend to produce large chemical libraries that have limited effects on a small number of target sites.
