Who would bother to pay money to watch and listen to a musical group which hit the headlines 40 years ago? The answer to that was the . Levi’s Stadium literally rocked for two hours as 50,000 fans showed they still loved and remembered the high-energy music and performers. What a show. What an audience. What an incredible venue. I kept thinking as I watched the show and the 50,000 fans that Santa Clara is absolutely fortunate to have and own a fabulous facility like Levi’s.

Why is it that Santa Clara has plenty of money and always seems to be short of it? Have you noticed we never seem to have enough and when we do have some extra funds, they are redirected to things other than our deteriorating infrastructure? Even simple things like our city water fountains that went dry during COVID stayed dry for years even after the pandemic. Do you think restoring our water fountains was a monumental engineering phenomenon?

It is only July and it appears there is more interest in the November election than the results of FIFA World Cup finals. It appears there will be so many choices for mayor of Santa Clara that you may need all your fingers to count them. The mastermind of Santa Clara politics is current mayor Lisa Gillmor. I say mastermind because she has honed her political skills for the last thirty-some years and has remained on council 22 of the last 34 years.
