Kathy Watanabe is just not a nice person. It doesn’t matter how much money she raises, marching bands she hires, promotional brochures she prints, she just is not nice and not a good choice for mayor. One of the first clues was early on when Watanabe was holding an anti-Asian hate rally in town. As the program began, fellow council member Kevin Park (a Korean American) stood up and walked to the front to voice his support for Watanabe’s program.

There was a time when the biggest campaign scandal in the City of Santa Clara was stealing campaign yard signs. Call the FBI! Call the CIA! At least yard signs can be replaced. But now the political shenanigans have moved from stealing signs to what appears to be intentional stalking of council member Kevin Park by former council member and political opponent Teresa O’Neill. You might remember back in 2020 when Park first ran.

This year, Santa Clara just may be facing the most important election in decades. Consider that Santa Clara politics has literally been under the control of Mayor Lisa Gillmor for decades. She has built her political empire at the expense of you and your fellow Santa Clarans. While there are dozens of technically legal actions taken by Mayor Gillmor, there is one that is an albatross to every resident. Think about this.
