Stability and in vitro simulated release characteristics of ultrasonically modified soybean lipophilic protein emulsion
Stability and in vitro simulated release characteristics of ultrasonically modified soybean lipophilic protein emulsion Natural emulsifiers such as soybean lipophilic protein (SLP) show potential as delivery systems for hydrophobic bioactive components such as vitamin E; however, the solubility of SLP is limited by its high lipid content. This study evaluated the effects of various ultrasonic conditions on the structure and properties of SLP.
General Control Nonderepressible 2 (GCN2) Kinase Inhibits Target of Rapamycin Complex 1 in Response to Amino Acid Starvation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
In eukaryotic cells, two conserved protein kinases, Gcn2 and TOR complex 1 (TORC1), couple amino acid conditions to protein translation. Gcn2 functions as an amino acid sensor and is activated by uncharged tRNAs that accumulate when intracellular amino acids are limited. Activated Gcn2 phosphorylates and inhibits eukaryotic initiation factor-2? (eIF2?), resulting in repression of general protein synthesis. Like Gcn2, TORC1 is also involved in sensing amino acid conditions.

Author contributions: W. Y. conducted the studies shown in Fig. 1-4 and 8. S.G. did phosphorylation analysis. J.G. performed the studies shown in Fig 4 and 6. M.Z., G. Y., W.W., and Y.C. assisted the studies and did other control experiments not shown in the manuscript. W.Y. and Y.J conceived and planned the experiments and interpreted data. Yu J. performed the experiments shown in Fig. 7 and wrote the manuscript. All authors reviewed the results and approved the final version of the manuscript.
Tumor Suppressor Folliculin Regulates mTORC1 through Primary Cilia
Folliculin (FLCN) is the tumor suppressor associated with Birt-Hogg-Dubé (BHD) syndrome that predisposes patients to incident of hamartomas and cysts in multiple organs. Its inactivation causes deregulation in the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) signaling pathway. However, the underlying mechanism is poorly defined. In this study, we show that FLCN is a ciliary protein that functions through primary cilia to regulate mTORC1.
Tumor Suppressor Folliculin Regulates mTORC1 through Primary Cilia
Author contributions: M.Z. conducted the imaging studies shown in Fig. 2 and 5 and part of biochemical analyses shown in Figs. 1 and 3. X.Z. did the biochemical analyses shown in Fig. 1, 3 and 4. J.L., G.Y., M.T., S.G., Y.Z. and Y.L. performed experiments. Yong J., Y.L. and Yu J. conceived and planned the experiments and interpreted data. Yu J. wrote the manuscript.
