1 Introduction Conventional surgical tools, originally made of rigid metals such as iron, stainless steel, and titanium, have evolved into robotic systems capable of automated and electronically controlled motion [1, 2]. This evolution has improved surgical precision and reproducibility while enabling remote operation and patient-specific procedures.

Abstract Adopting compostable materials that return to nature akin to organisms can mitigate concerns regarding the ecological footprint associated with the widespread deployment of soft robots across various fields, including medicine, agriculture and environmental exploration.

MATERIALS AND METHODS A thin film of PBAT (30 μm, S-EnPol, Korea) was prepared by spin coating of PBAT solution (0.3 g/ml) on the glass substrate. Thin film adhesive layer (MoO3, 15 nm) and metal layer (Mo, 50 nm) were sequentially directly deposited on the PBAT film by a sputtering system (J Vacuum Technology, Korea). The film was peeled off from glass substrate, and cyclic tensile strain (~2%, 20 cycles) was applied to form the crack structure on the metal film.
