Miranda Moore’s Biography

Miranda Moore is an award-winning investigative journalist currently based in Lawrence, Kansas. She was previously the Kansas statehouse reporter for the Wichita Beacon and Kansas City Beacon. Miranda's reporting for the USA TODAY network in Florida uncovered allegations of a youth basketball coach's misconduct spanning 15 years, the mistreatment and death of chimpanzees at a local sanctuary, and a mismanaged epidemiological response to a hepatitis outbreak by the county health department. Prior to moving to Florida, Miranda wrote for the business and technology desk at The Washington Post. Miranda conducted research and data analysis for 60 Minutes at CBS News and the investigations desk at BuzzFeed News. She reported for KBIA, the NPR affiliate in Columbia, Missouri, provided public safety and statehouse coverage for the Columbia Missourian daily newspaper, and assisted with Miami-based WLRN's coverage of Hurricane Irma.

Prior to becoming a journalist, Miranda worked for four years as a paralegal in the U.S. government's office for for prosecuting human rights violators in Washington, D.C. Miranda served in the Peace Corps in Uganda from 2009-2011, and holds masters degrees from the University of Missouri in business and investigative journalism.
