But over the last 200 years a lot of damage has been done to those habitats. In recent years, a group of scientists in Sydney has had great success building artificial seawalls that brings the marine life back.

While many people will be sitting down to feast at tables groaning under the weight of Christmas fare, others who are not so lucky will need a helping hand to enjoy the special occasion. Fortunately there are places where everyone is welcome to share in the Christmas celebration.

As Australians gather to celebrate Christmas eve with friends and family, thousands of Ukrainian refugees are taking this moment to reflect. Almost 35,000 fled to Australia to escape the Russian invasion. For some, it's their first Christmas away from home and reporter Miwa Blumer spent time with them at a special dinner.
