1 Introduction Complications in pregnant cats can arise at any stage of gestation, potentially leading to embryonic or foetal death, with subsequent pregnancy loss manifesting as foetal resorption, abortion, stillbirth, maceration or mummification (Johnston and Raksil 1987; Givens and Marley 2008). In small animals (dogs and cats), dead foetuses may either be expelled or retained within the uterus (Lefebvre 2015; Erdoğan and Akkuş 2019).

To the Editor, The authors express grave concern about an alarming and intensifying threat to one of South and Southeast Asia's enigmatic and ecologically important primates—the Bengal slow loris (Nycticebus bengalensis). Although listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) (Nekaris et al. 2020) and protected under national and international legal frameworks, this nonhuman primate continues to be hunted illegally at unsustainable levels across its range.
