This is General Manager Molly Motherwell, sitting down for the last time with David Fair and Michael Jewett on the cusp of your retirements in the next few days. I thought it would be a great opportunity for the three of us to sit down, having been colleagues now for decades, and just look back over the years of your being here, us being a team and just working with WEMU in general.

At the conclusion of WEMU’s 60th anniversary, veteran broadcasters David Fair and Michael Jewett have announced their retirements from 89.1, WEMU, effective June 30, 2026.

RESOURCES: Rescissions Act of 2025 Protect My Public Media TRANSCRIPTION: David Fair: This is 89.1 WEMU, and if you have not heard, the Rescissions Act of 2025 has been passed by both the U.S. House and Senate and now awaits the President's signature. I'm David Fair, and it means the federal administration will claw back about $9 billion in already-dedicated monies. It's going to take back nearly $8 billion dedicated to foreign aid and about $1.1 billion from public media.
