Abstract Plant nucleotide-binding, leucine-rich-repeat (NLR) immune receptors recognize pathogen effectors and activate immunity. The NLR RPS2 recognizes AvrRpt2, a Pseudomonas effector that promotes virulence by proteolytically cleaving a membrane-tethered host protein, RIN4. RIN4 cleavage by AvrRpt2 generates fragments that activate RPS2.

Request a detailed protocol Electrophysiological recordings were acquired using a Multiclamp 700A amplifier (Molecular Devices), a Digidata series 1322A digitizer (Molecular Devices), and pClamp 10 software (Molecular Devices). The intrinsic firing patterns of V2a neurons were assessed by performing 500ms long current steps at 1–2x rheobase in current-clamp mode.

Locomotion: The rhythm is going to get you

Walking, running and other rhythmic movements require muscles in the legs, arms and back to contract at the right time and in the correct sequence. The muscles involved are activated by motor neurons, which in turn are controlled by neurons within the spinal cord. These spinal neurons are organized into distinct populations, and understanding how these neurons function has been a central question in the field of motor control for many years.
