South Korea is witnessing the rapid spread of so-called “warehouse-style pharmacies,” large outlets that display and sell medicines and health supplements in bulk, fuelling a heated debate over public health and market fairness. The trend began earlier this year in Seongnam, south of Seoul, and has since spread to Gwangju, where two large-format pharmacies – one measuring 262sqm and another slated to open at 760sqm – are set to launch this month.

Korean e-commerce firms under fire over hidden review rankings

Roughly 40 per cent of South Korea’s major online shopping platforms rely on proprietary algorithms to rank product reviews without disclosing the criteria behind those rankings, raising concerns about consumer trust and transparency, according to a new report by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
