Features writer.
How is social media changing news?
Social media has gotten the jump on traditional news because of its immediate nature.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means to explore the world and give a view of what makes it work and how it can change for the better.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer to be pitched via email or through MuckRack. Email is my first choice since I check it all the time.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Paint (for simple picture resizing), Google's online stopwatch (for time management), voice recorder.

Michael Ealy, Pres. Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Viola Davis, Lupita Nyong'o, etc.
Why did you become a journalist?
I love journalism because I love making a difference and I get to meet amazing people doing amazing things.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
My high school didn't have a school newspaper; I ran my college newspaper instead.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I'm most proud of my John Lewis, Michael Ealy, and "Tyrant" interviews. I like meeting cool people.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Focus on the change you want to make. And it's natural to be nervous before conducting interviews.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The best pitch involved the chance to interview Congressman John Lewis for the Miami New Times.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Maybe watching television, or in bed, watching YouTube on my phone.
