Art & Craft: What I Made in August

I’m a multi-hyphenate artist, and I refuse to change! I'm far more likely to complete a project if I have other projects going at the same time. So here begins my monthly recap of everything I made in the last month. Aug was a big practical-making month, and Sept is going to be PACKED with art and craft making. Ooh, I can’t wait. I’ve been getting into spoon making. No power tools, just hand carving. This beauty took 7 hours to turn from a chunk of wood into what you see now.

What are your current modes of seeking safety? When I was young, my impulse control was as strong as the most uptight bitch you can imagine. Self-control was my security blanket. I was appropriate and polite, and boiling hot with anxiety and fear internally. The outside world saw me as the golden eldest daughter of the town Anglican priest, the girl who could do no wrong.

Today I pulled the Elder of Swords, reversed. I’m trained in Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), an inquiry-based method used to facilitate discussion about art, one that helps people of all ages develop critical thinking, observation, sustained focus, and communication. I’m also an artist and author, one of the two artist/authors behind the Every Little Thing You Do is Magic tarot deck and workbook. (New Audiobookout now!) I see a huge tie between VTS and reading tarot cards; let me explain.
