2. Materials and Methods 2.1. Research Design For objective one, the initial method development procedures compared two sample extraction solvents: TBME with a liquid–liquid extraction method and a simple water-based aqueous extraction (AE) method. The TBME method served as the comparator for the developed AE method. The goal was to simplify sample preparation, aiming for a “dilute-and-shoot” type method that would maintain sample integrity while reducing the use of organic solvents.
